Three platforms. Three very different answers to the same question: how do we get our clients cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Google AI Overviews?
This post compares them head-to-head. Not which one is objectively best — that question doesn’t have a single answer. But which one fits your agency’s specific portfolio size, budget, and content strategy.

The AEO market moved fast in 2025-2026. 56% of CMOs made significant AEO investments in 2025, and 94% plan to increase spend in 2026. For an agency owner managing five to thirty client brands, the vendor choice is now an annual spend decision.
The timing also matters. 94% of B2B buyers use LLMs during purchase research, and 95% of the time, the winning vendor was already on their Day-One shortlist. Getting clients visible to AI is no longer a nice-to-have. It’s table stakes. Agencies that do it get retainers renewed. Agencies that don’t lose them.
The challenge is that the three platforms I’m going to compare were built for three different agency profiles. Pick the wrong one, and you either underspend on monitoring or overspend on enterprise features you don’t use.
The TL;DR (one line each)
Otterly: Affordable, fast, no agency workflows, best for solo operators or small teams managing 1-3 brands.
Profound: Enterprise-scale monitoring with advanced citation tracking, Fortune 500 customers, sales-led pricing, zero self-serve option.
GenPicked: Built from the ground up for multi-brand agencies (5-30 brands typical), includes autoblogging + white-label reports, ranges from $172/month startup to $922/month at scale.
Engines tracked: The decisive table
Every citation tracking platform monitors different AI models. Here’s what each covers:
| Engine | Otterly | Profound | GenPicked |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | ✓ Base | ✓ All tiers | ✓ All tiers |
| Perplexity | ✓ Base | ✓ All tiers | ✓ All tiers |
| Gemini | ✓ Base | Limited | ✓ All tiers |
| Claude | + $59-149/mo | Not listed | ✓ All tiers |
| Google AI Overviews | ✓ Base | ✓ All tiers | ✓ All tiers |
| Other (Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek) | ✓ Additional tier | Not listed | Not included |
Key insight: Claude is critical. Profound data shows Claude mentions brands in 97.3% of its answers vs ChatGPT at 73.6%. If your platform doesn’t track Claude, you’re missing the engine with the highest brand-mention rate.
Pricing: Entry cost and unit economics
Otterly
$29/month Lite tier covers the six base engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot, Google AI Mode). Add-on engines (Claude, DeepSeek, Grok) layer at $59—149/month. No per-brand fees. Simplest entry for a single client validation.
Profound
Raised $96M Series C at $1B valuation in February 2026 with 700+ enterprise customers including 10%+ of the Fortune 500. Pricing is enterprise sales-led only; no self-serve checkout. Contact sales for a quote. Typical bottom of enterprise market starts around $5K-10K/month.
GenPicked
Two-tier pricing: platform fee + per-brand fee.
Typical spend: An agency managing 5 brands on Growth tier at Lite per-brand rate: $197 + (5 × $75) = $572/month. Scale tier with 10 brands at Standard: $397 + (10 × $149) = $1,887/month.
Agency workflows: Multi-brand management
Otterly is built for domain monitoring, not agency workflows. There’s no native multi-client dashboard. You could set up separate Otterly accounts per brand, but you’re managing five login sessions, not one unified view. White-label reporting for clients: not available.
Profound offers enterprise dashboards with shared access controls. Multi-brand management exists. But the platform assumes you’re selling to individual enterprise brands, not agencies reselling to 10+ clients. White-label reporting: available for enterprise tiers (ask your account team).
GenPicked was built from day one around the agency workflow. One login, multiple brands, per-brand metrics, portfolio overview. Growth tier and above include white-label client reporting — you rebrand the monthly PDF and send it as your own analysis. Scale tier adds custom report templates and resale rights.
This is not a minor difference. If you manage 10 brands and have to manually extract reports from 10 separate Otterly or Profound accounts, that operational tax eats three hours per month. GenPicked automates it.
Citation tracking depth
Otterly focuses on brand visibility across engines. The core output: "Is my client mentioned in this AI response?" Sufficient for validation work, but shallow for strategic intelligence.
Profound goes deeper. Per Profound’s published research, 46.7% of Perplexity’s top 10 citations come from Reddit. They track source attribution heavily, Reddit signals specifically, and which URLs are being cited alongside your brand. This is enterprise-grade competitive intelligence.
GenPicked tracks mention rate, position of first mention, mention density (how many times per response), source changes, and competitor moves. The ACS formula weights all three: mention rate (60 points), position score (25 points), mention density (15 points), per engine. You get a 0-100 score per engine, then a weighted blend across all five. Engine weights: ChatGPT 0.35 (highest traffic volume per Conductor), Perplexity 0.25, Gemini 0.25, Claude 0.15. The math is simple enough to explain to a client, transparent enough that they trust it.
Claude has a 97.3% brand-mention rate — higher than any other engine. But it drives less traffic than ChatGPT (which mentions brands 73.6% of the time). A single-number AEO score that averages these swallows the difference. GenPicked reports by-engine so you see it.
Content production capability: The autoblogger gap
This is where the three platforms diverge most sharply.
Otterly and Profound both focus on monitoring and reporting. Neither includes content generation. They answer, "Are we visible?" They don’t answer, "How do we become visible?"
GenPicked includes a 9-agent autoblogger (Research, Writer, Optimization, Atomizer, Scout, Monitor, Scheduler, Cron Handler, Distribution). The workflow: (1) Identify gaps — queries your client should rank for but doesn’t. (2) Auto-generate AEO-optimized articles with 50-150 word chunks, FAQ schema, and inline citations. (3) Review + edit in-platform. (4) Publish to client site or white-label as agency content.
The Writer agent uses Anthropic SDK on Azure Anthropic as its primary endpoint, producing articles structured specifically for AI citation (Q&A headers, attribute-rich schema, subheading hierarchy). It’s not a generic blog generator. It’s built around what AI engines actually cite.
This matters strategically. A client that’s invisible to ChatGPT has two paths: (1) Pitch editors at trusted third-party sites to mention them, or (2) Create new content on-site that’s structured to be cited. The first is slow and expensive (earned media). The second is what the autoblogger does.
Reporting and client delivery
Otterly generates basic reports. Suitable for your internal use. Not white-label.
Profound produces enterprise-grade reporting with share-of-voice metrics, competitive positioning, and source-attribution detail. White-label available for large enterprise deals (ask your Profound account team).
GenPicked offers three tiers:
- Starter / Free: GenPicked-branded monthly reports (PDF + web view). Sufficient for internal tracking; not client-deliverable.
- Growth / Pro: White-label PDF reports with your agency logo. Everything else GenPicked-branded. This is what you send to clients each month.
- Scale: Custom report templates, full branding control, resale rights. You can add GenPicked as a data input to your own reporting framework.
Onboarding speed and support model
Otterly: 5-minute signup, add a domain, done. No onboarding wizard. You’re in the dashboard immediately. Support: email + community Slack. Great for single-client validation work.
Profound: Structured 4-week onboarding program (Week 1: setup & query definition; Week 2-3: data review & insights; Week 4: handoff & planning). Dedicated account team. Enterprise support SLAs. This is the opposite of self-serve — you get a human partner.
GenPicked: 48-hour typical onboarding (platform setup + brand add + first audit). Onboarding wizard guides you through tier selection, brand entry, and query setup. Support: help.genpicked.com (docs + email). Faster than Profound, more structured than Otterly.
Funding and longevity (a pragmatic consideration)
Vendor choice is a 12-month commitment. Picking a platform that goes out of business mid-year is expensive.
Otterly: Bootstrapped and profitable. ~$770K revenue as of October 2024 with 20,000+ users. Named a Gartner Cool Vendor 2025. Runway is strong for a bootstrapped company this size.
Profound: $96M Series C at $1B valuation in February 2026. 700+ enterprise customers including 10%+ of Fortune 500. Enterprise-grade backing; longevity is not a concern.
GenPicked: Venture-backed (not disclosed publicly). Profitable on a per-customer basis. Customer-first model; focus is on retention and expansion. For context, the platform powers white-label resale for several agencies, so switching costs for large customers are higher than typical SaaS.
None of these are at-risk startups. But it’s worth noting: Otterly’s entire future depends on staying small and profitable. Profound is backed by large VCs and enterprise revenue. GenPicked is betting on agency scale, not enterprise.
Decision matrix: Which one fits your agency?
Pick Otterly if:
- You manage 1-3 brands (not 5+)
- Your primary need is “Is my client visible?” (not content production)
- Budget is tight ($29-60/month per brand)
- You want to start now and validate AEO before committing bigger budget
Pick Profound if:
- Your clients are Fortune 500 or large enterprise
- You need enterprise support, 24/7 SLAs, and a dedicated account team
- Your primary need is advanced citation intelligence (source tracking, Reddit signals)
- Budget for AEO is $10K+/month and procurement cycles are normal
Pick GenPicked if:
- You manage 5-30 brands and need a unified dashboard
- You deliver white-label monthly reports to clients
- Content production (autoblogging) is part of your AEO strategy
- Budget is $500-2K/month and you want fast setup (48 hours)
Honest tradeoffs (the GenPicked limitations)
I founded GenPicked, so let me be clear about what we don’t do:
We don’t track Reddit as deeply as Profound. If 46.7% of Perplexity’s citations come from Reddit, you want Reddit intelligence baked into your platform. Profound has it. GenPicked doesn’t — at least not yet. If Reddit is 80% of your AEO strategy, Profound is the better choice.
We don’t serve Fortune 500 clients directly. Our pricing and workflow assume mid-market B2B (dental, legal, HVAC, SaaS). If your client is Microsoft or Goldman Sachs, Profound’s enterprise support is the right choice.
We don’t have paid case studies yet. I could show you internal results from partner agencies, but GenPicked doesn’t have published paid-customer outcome data. Profound and Otterly have been public longer. If social proof from logos matters in your procurement, we have less of it.
These are real constraints. The flip side is GenPicked was built specifically for the workflow you’re trying to solve — managing AEO across a portfolio of brands on a monthly retainer. The other two platforms are solving adjacent problems for different buyer types.
We focus on medium-market B2B, not enterprise or SMB-direct. GenPicked’s positioning is intentionally narrow: marketing agencies managing 5-30 client brands, typically mid-market SaaS / professional services / e-commerce verticals. We optimize the pricing, workflows, and feature set for that buyer. If your primary clients are Fortune 500 or solopreneurs, you’ll find better fit elsewhere.
We don’t have deep Slack integrations yet. Profound and some competitors offer Slack alerts for citation changes. GenPicked ships alerts via email and in-dashboard notifications, but Slack integration is on the roadmap, not in the current release. If your team runs entirely through Slack, that’s worth evaluating.
Our onboarding is self-serve, which means less hand-holding. Profound’s 4-week structured program is a feature, not a bug. If your team needs a vendor partner walking you through every step, Profound’s account team model is what you want. GenPicked assumes you can read docs and onboarding wizards. This is a deliberate tradeoff for cost and speed.
What to do next
The best next step depends on your current state:
If you haven’t validated AEO on a client yet: Start with Otterly’s $29/month tier on one brand. Run it for 30 days. If you see measurable citation growth from content changes, you’ve validated the category and have a benchmark to pitch additional client budgets.
If you have 3-10 brands and white-label reporting is critical: GenPicked’s Growth tier ($197 + 3-10 brands at $75-149 each = $425-1,300/month) gives you the agency dashboard, per-brand metrics, and white-label client reports. You can trial it free for 14 days.
If you have 10+ enterprise brands and budget is >$10K/month: Talk to Profound’s sales team. They’ll scope a custom package with Reddit intelligence, advanced attribution, and a dedicated account manager.
None of these are wrong choices. They’re differently right for different portfolios.
